Privacy Policy — DictaKit for DailyDictation
Last updated: June 12, 2026
DictaKit for DailyDictation (“DictaKit”, “the extension”) is a browser extension that enhances the DailyDictation learning experience. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.
Summary
- DictaKit stores data only on your device.
- DictaKit does not send your data to the extension developer’s servers.
- DictaKit does not sell data or use third-party analytics or advertising.
- DictaKit only runs on dailydictation.com.
Data we store on your device
DictaKit uses Chrome’s extension storage (chrome.storage.local)
and, for one UI preference, the website’s localStorage on
dailydictation.com:
| Data | Purpose | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Extension settings | Enable/disable features, panel visibility, display preferences | chrome.storage.local |
| Keyboard press counts | Per-lesson keyboard heatmap | chrome.storage.local |
| Heatmap overrides and notes | Your manual edits to heatmaps | chrome.storage.local |
| Custom dictionary entries | Words and example sentences you add | chrome.storage.local |
| Time-spent visibility toggle | Show or hide time spent on your profile | localStorage on dailydictation.com |
Data read from DailyDictation (not sent to us)
While you use dailydictation.com, the extension may read:
- Your DailyDictation user ID from the page (to show the activity calendar and practice streak when you are logged in)
- Lesson transcript and exercise title (to power the dictionary panel)
-
Practice activity data from DailyDictation’s API
(
/api/user-dates/...) using your existing login session
This data is used only to display features in your browser. It is not transmitted to the extension developer’s servers.
Data we do not collect
- Name, email, address, or other contact information
- Passwords or authentication credentials
- Browsing history outside dailydictation.com
- Analytics, advertising identifiers, or telemetry
- The full text of what you type during dictation (only individual key press counts are stored)
Network requests
DictaKit makes network requests only to dailydictation.com, using your existing browser session (for example, to load your practice history). No requests are made to servers operated by the extension developer.
Third parties
DictaKit does not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. The extension does not include third-party analytics or advertising software development kits (SDKs).
